Cynthia’s latest painting, “Destiny in your hands” sees the return of her whimsical goldfish character with its iconic vibrant colours. This piece is inspired by the idea that each of us can choose to create a happy life, even though it may also seem as if we’re all handed life’s disadvantages on the day we’re born. Things may not be fair, and things can be rocky, but we are responsible for the result of all our actions and decisions. It’s within our power to decide the final outcome of your life, whether it’s a success or a failure.
The base of the painting – the palm (facing up and upward) represents the different stages of life, from the hand we were dealt as a baby to the choices we get to make as we grow. The hand also resemble waves in the sea, like the waves in life, the uncertainty, the entire path is presented directly to us, and we are the hand that must decide what to do.
The jumping goldfish show us that no matter how unstable and rough the water may be, if you invest your time and effort in moving out of comfort and following the path and you believe in your work, something beautiful can shine.
